FACES BEHIND THE NUMBERS.
Aaron comes from Tasmania, a land of opportunity (but only if you leave). After graduating with a degree in Law & Commerce, Aaron cut his teeth at KPMG Australia before making the big leap to the UK using his considerable accountancy skills with our parent company Porta Communications before joining us. Aaron is a wizard with numbers and says he can make numbers appear to dance on a spreadsheet. Given that he also loves a few pints of Guinness, we now know how. Perhaps the numbers are doing an Irish jig?
Adelaide has been putting her accounting and finance degree to good use with us since graduating in 2015. Since then, she has become the mainstay of our finance team – in fact, we really can’t sing her praises enough. She is also currently learning Spanish which probably explains why when anyone asks when the staff monthly expenses will be paid, the answer is always “mañana”.
Áine is responsible for client development, digital strategy and project delivery. She has many years experience working in commercial, creative solutions and strategic roles and more recently has been working with a broad spectrum of financial clients. She really knows how to get things done on time and on budget while ensuring there is all the creative flair you need to keep ahead of the pack. Outside of the office Áine is well used to staying ahead of the pack – she’s a keen runner.
Anthony works primarily on the BNY Mellon Investment Management and Newton Investment Management businesses. He has over 20 years experience working within the Financial Services industry with roles that have included Senior Graphic Designer, Print Production Manager and Head of Design and Print. With Anthony, you’ve got a really experienced cook in the kitchen – someone who really knows how things are done properly. And when Anthony is not cooking at work, he’s head cook at home, especially when he can get sizzling on the BBQ. Yes, you’ve guessed it. It’s all done perfect there too.
Aulona decided to take the communications industry by storm straight from sixth form. After a couple of years working as a one-woman marketing department, doing everything from design to social media she decided it was time to join 2112 and let others do some of the work. When she’s not busy bringing her fresh approach to a broad cross-section of our clients, she likes to read dystopian literature (no relevance to her day job, by the way) and travel.
Not so long ago many family business names ended in ‘& Son’. Well here is the ‘Son’ of a family business within our business. Charlie is fast becoming a worthy successor to his dad with his wide-ranging studio skills. He joined us straight from school having realised that the best education is ‘The School of Life’. In his spare time, Charlie risks life and limb in the Scouts and has recently survived capsizing a kayak in the Thames. Meanwhile back on dry land we’re glad to say that whatever the challenge, Charlie is rarely out of his depth.
Chris is a full stack web developer who enjoys working with clients to solve problems and deliver efficient and tailored solutions. He has a passion for creating new segments of code and mapping out new areas to implement. Chris crams in even more knowledge by listening to programming lectures at double speed. (We’re hoping the programming gets done at double speed too!) Beyond his professional life, Chris, who is Italian, tells us he is great at making pizza (at double speed too?)
With a first class honours degree in Multimedia Technology, Daniel is unnervingly talented and possibly even more unnervingly passionate about Front End web development. His 5 years experience includes major projects delivered for Sony, Cornhill Capital and tech start-up OwnFone. Daniel continues to evolve through his obsession with emerging new web technologies and efficient development methods. His only distraction appears to be an insatiable appetite for life-threatening chillies. His characteristic taciturnity may simply be the result of having burnt his vocal cords to a cinder!
Darren does everything so quickly and so well that it’s easy to imagine Darren occasionally donning a superhero’s outfit. Not Superman or Batman perhaps, but certainly Robin on speed. As Technical Director of 2112 our clients benefit from the full scope of his talents. When it comes to technical development he absorbs knowledge as easily as we draw breath – with the curiosity and energy of a hyperactive puppy. His enthusiasm is unflagging and with a work rate that is exhausting his contribution to the agency and our clients is astonishing.
From the land of Ouzo and Feta cheese comes our very own Greek goddess. Legend has it that as a child, Anna, like many children loved to paint and draw until one day she saw a vision in a glowing box that took her in a new direction. The vision was the Disney Channel and her new direction was animation. After completing a BA in Graphic Arts and an MSc in 3D Tech and Multimedia, Anna has become a talented specialist in producing 2D and 3D animation while also being a very capable illustrator and digital designer.
Esther is one of our gems. Known to colleagues and clients alike as Eagle-Eyed Parks, Esther hunts down anything in a campaign likely to trip our clients up and eats it alive. No financial services compliance misdemeanor misses her watchful gaze; no complex communications piece escapes the building without her beady-eyed attention. Esther swoops on projects and delivers with a speed and accuracy that takes your breath away. No wonder she’s won awards for client service excellence. With two young boys at home, we would imagine that as a Mum, Esther is pretty fast at dealing with the misdemeanors there too.
To us she’s Flik. Under that big hair is big design experience. Flik has as diverse a range of design skills as you could wish for. Whether it’s B2B marketing, brand development, publishing or channel marketing, Flik has been there and done it. She is pretty well travelled through all aspects of design and yet Flik loves to explore new ways of doing things. Did we mention ‘well travelled’? Well, Flik is Australian, so travelling is in her DNA – which means in her 9 years over here, she’s been to more European destinations than most people can manage in a lifetime.
We could so easily have been working with Ed Sheeran here. But back in the day when Jack used to play on the same bill as Ed, it became clear that Jack was destined for greater things. While Ed struggled in the music business, Jack was embarking on a stellar career winning over clients with his easy charm and efficient account management skills. Jack is a problem solver par excellence and over the last five years he has built quite a fan base. If only the same could have been said about Ed. Loser!
Janice has many years’ experience in design, advertising and brand development and enjoys the challenge of creating dynamic, eye-catching solutions to best meet a client’s requirements. Just to keep you on your toes she’ll throw in a few ideas that take the brief to another level. She has experience in the financial, pharmaceutical, retail and charity sectors. Did we mention experience? She was in a band in the 80’s – but apparently we mustn’t talk about it. Oops!
Jimmy is a lean, hungry and enthusiastic designer. Jimmy loves to dive right in to a project, explore all avenues and then craft his work by looking at every detail of typography, illustration and layout. He has experience working across retail, fashion, property and blue chip brands. When he’s not in front of a mac, he’s in front of a bar enjoying someones else’s craft – beer. He also finds time to go to museums and galleries (so he says).
Joseph has already packed a whole lot of interests into his young life. He’s into basketball. He plays the guitar and viola. He loves manga and anime (look it up!). He’s also learning Jazz piano. Joseph is an English Literature graduate with a thirst to learn – which suits us because he’s picked up the ropes fast supporting our account management team in every aspect of the role. Randomly we’re told that Joseph stepped on his first snail when aged 19. Well that’s what happens if you go at a snail’s pace around Joseph.
With a designer, you want to work with someone who constantly strives for the fresh and the new, who steps outside of the genre and delivers something that will get people interested. That’s Justin. He has over 15 years’ experience in graphic design, working across many sectors including financial, charity, consumer, healthcare and retail. He has delivered new brands, great editorial design and beautifully executed integrated marketing campaigns. And to re-fuel his creative juices, you might find him breezing around the Royal Academy, or maybe taking in a West-End show or a concert.
Richard has made a career out of producing award-winning campaigns for some of the world’s most successful global brands. Whether it’s the iPhone in your pocket or the Oven Chip in your freezer, Richard has created the campaigns that helped put them there. Richard’s ability to create great work for ambitious briefs has made him a strong asset for any brand he touches. Like any creative, Richard needs to feed his imagination. In his case, it’s by settling down to read ‘The Giant Jam Sandwich’ to his two young kids. How sweet.
Mick is the antithesis of the sexy bright new thinking that so often attracts clients to a communications agency. The qualities of a good studio and the skills you want to find within it are best summed up by Mick ‘the unsexy’. His solid hard-working skills include his attention to detail, unflappability, wide-ranging software abilities, good design sense and a can-do attitude ensuring our clients are more than happy with the artwork. With 28 years in the financial services sector, Mick’s skills have been built up over a lifetime – in fact many of our team weren’t even born when he started.
As capable as Bear Grylls, as resourceful as David Blane and as reliable as A. P. McCoy; Neil is definitely an, ‘action speaks louder than words’ kind of guy. His calm head and steady hand on the tiller keeps us from being swamped when our workload is in full flood. More multi-faceted than a Swiss Army knife, Neil’s experience spans print, press, outdoor and digital – all handled with the same efficient aplomb. As they say; good creative wins accounts and poor service loses them. With Neil at the helm that’s not something we have to worry about.
Nick might seem to be a ’know-it-all’. But he’s far too useful for us to get annoyed at that. He has major brand design experience – including Google, Microsoft, Heinz and Vodafone. From web design to video and animation, Nick will put his ‘know-it-all’ skills to good use. And when he’s not a ‘know-it all’ at work, his extensive knowledge of music and movies can empty a pub in less time than it takes to say ‘Sex Lives of the Potato Men’ – a film released in 2004 and widely regarded as one of the worst films of all time (as Nick will tell you).
Ruby is a girl on the move. In fact since graduating she has moved home three times. And she likes to keep active in lots of other ways too – she’s into netball, skiing and she’s a dab-hand at fine baking and sumptuous desserts (we’re looking forward to sampling these delights soon!) We also hear that Ruby is soon to try her hand at pottery, presumably to make extra dishes for all those desserts. Ruby is also an accomplished painter specialising in large scale textured work and has successfully completed many commissions. With her degree in Graphic Design, Ruby is already putting her considerable talents to good use across all our work.
Capricious, volatile, erratic… but if you’re not difficult then you’re not creative. Right? Wrong. Peter is an oasis in a desert, a harbour in a storm. He provides a refreshing reminder for us and our clients of how much fun the creative process can be. Peter is probably one of the most productive creative directors you’ll ever meet with more experience in the Financial Services sector than the Bank of England. Whatever the brief, Peter is determined to deliver brilliance. His interests extend way beyond work of course and includes an unfathomable passion for the music of Stackridge and Klaatu.
If positivity could be captured Phil could keep a bottling plant busy 24 /7 all on his own. Optimistic and enthusiastic in equal measure, as CEO of 2112 Phil is ceaseless in his determination to make our work the very best. With experience that encompasses more than a couple of decades and a huge range of communications disciplines, our Peter Pan sits somewhere between the Fonz and Boris Johnson in terms of confidence and energy.
